The Transnational and Transracial Adoption Group exists and continues to develop due to the generous donation of time, commitment
and determination of individual members.
As we do not currently receive any funding we are totally reliant upon the goodwill and commitment of other organisations
in order to bring us to the notice of other potential members, etc. and are therefore, VERY grateful for any positive publicity
and promotion.
Research Study
Transnationally adopted adults: Why do they search and what do they find?
The research project is being undertaken by TTAG member and adopted adult, Dr. Perlita Harris (Goldsmiths,
University of London) in collaboration with the Transnational and Transracial Adoption Group.
This research study aims to answer the following questions:
· why do some transnationally adopted adults search for information about their adoption and/or for their birth family?
· what is the experience of searching for information and/or birth family like ?
· what have transnationally adopted adults have been able to find out ?
· what, if any, difference has this made to them and to their sense of identity and belonging?
What does taking part involve?
I am looking for 10-15 transnationally adopted
adults to take part in an individual interview. The interview will take place in June or July 2009 at a time and
place that is convenient for you.
To take part in an interview, you need to be:
· born in one country and adopted
by white British/ European or North American parents living in another country
· 18 to 50 years old
· have begun or completed searching
for information about your adoption/ birth family OR
· have begun or completed searching
for someone in your birth family
· living in England or Wales
· a member of the Transnational and
Transracial Adoption Group
